Meningen over de film The Road

Most films with Mr Mortensen seem to fit into two categories. One: What am I doing here? or Two: Wow.

Fortunately The Road belongs in the second category. In the post-apocalypse genre, this has to be one of the very best films ever made. The cinematography is Turner-esque, simply beautiful. The created world is 100% credible, without being overtly Hollywood-exciting. Indeed, the action is metered throughout the film's length. Don't go expecting fireworks. Based upon the book, this is a story of fundamental relationships, of a guilty will to live, of hope.

The plot doesn't even insult your intelligence by trying to explain what has happened; the context of Father and Son just trying to live through the aftermath is more than enough to keep you rooted.
Excellent acting by the leads; even Charlize Theron's (almost) cameo is perfect. Desperate. Haunted. Sad. Understandable.
