De film wordt geregisseerd door Wes Anderson; bekend van Rushmore, The Royal Tenenbaums en The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou. Anderson werkt in deze film samen met oude bekenden Cate Blanchett, Bill Murray, Jason Schwartzman en Anjelica Huston. George Clooney zal de stem van Mr. Fox gaan doen.
