Vanaf 17 november is de documentaire Liam Gallagher: Knebworth 22 tijdelijk in bioscopen wereldwijd te zien. De kaartverkoop gaat vrijdag 21 oktober om 10.00 uur (CET) van start. Na de film worden – exclusief voor de bioscopen - 2 extra nummers van het optreden vertoond.

Dit jaar keerde Liam Gallagher tegen alle verwachtingen in terug naar Knebworth Park, waar in de zomer van 1996 een menigte muziekfans zich verzamelde om Oasis te zien optreden in twee legendarische shows. Voor Liam Gallagher werd het een triomfantelijke comeback met twee uitverkochte optredens voor 170.000 fans en zijn 3e solo album C’mon You Know, waarmee hij voor de 3e keer met een studio release op nummer 1 in de Engelse albumlijst belandde.

In de nieuwe documentaire Liam Gallagher: Knebworth 22 zien we Liam op de plek die voor altijd verbonden is met het ongekende succes van zijn voormalige band. De opnamen van de concerten gefilmd vanuit 20 cameraposities, laten zien dat Liam Gallagher als soloartiest nog altijd veel te bieden heeft. In de documentaire ook nieuwe interviews met de popster en backstage materiaal. En natuurlijk de verhalen van zijn crew en fans van alle leeftijden en uit alle delen van de wereld, met specifieke aandacht voor de emotionele en sociale context van de shows in de jaren ’90, vergeleken met het tumult van ons huidige tijdperk.

De film werd geregisseerd door Toby L (Olivia Rodrigo: Sour Prom, Tonight With Arlo Parks, Foals: Rip Up The Road, Bastille: ReOrchestrated, Rihanna: 777).




Liam Gallagher: “I’m still in shock that I got to play Knebworth 2 nights, 26 years after I played it with Oasis. I’m still trying to get my head around it. To have played to multiple generations at the same venue so many years apart was beyond Biblical. I’m so glad that we documented it. At a time when it’s easy to feel powerless to the weight of the world around us, hopefully this film can be a small reminder of what we’re capable of overcoming. It’s a love letter to live music and being together again.”
